Music Video Draft Feedback

After publishing my music video draft me and my group received feedback that is going to help me improve my product to create a better quality indie music video. I collected positive feedback in regards to the styling of the music artist and the make-up we used and was said to make the video effective and relevant to the genre of the music. The framing was another feature that was commented on positively due to us filming our clips with the subject always being off-centre. This made the shots look more interesting and made the music video seem of high standard and quality.

However, there are also some things I need to change and improve on to increase the look of the entirety of the video. The first one being lip sync issues. During the editing stages we had difficulties trying to match the clip perfectly to the lyrics of the song, it became harder while re-watching it over and over again. We identified these issues while watching it after publishing on YouTube and was a common comment that popped up when showing audience members. This is something we plan on improving on as it makes the video look professional and realistic when everything fits nicely and in time with the beat. This will end up helping to attract and engage our target audience making the video much more effective. Another problem that occurred from our comments from others was the framing of the shot with the finger snap and the emphasis on the clicking of fingers. As this shot matches the beat of the song we need to make the clicking much more clear and precise in order to create the right effect. We plan on trying to frame this clip differently in order to fit with the other shots. If we decide this change doesn't look right we plan on just emphasising the finger snap. By improving this I think it will heighten the beat of the song more and bring the audience's attention to it effectively making them enjoy the song without realising.

During the making of our music video draft we forgot to feature the record label and copyright information at the end of the video. This is something I plan on featuring in my final product as this way it adds a professional feel that makes it as realistic as possible. At the start of the video we placed the name of the artist and the song on the clips for a certain period of time. We decided to do this as it added something different to the instrumental part of the song. However, in order the improve the video further we received comments about how the name of the song didn't match the beat of the music. This made it look out of time making it look less and less authentic which isn't the image we wanted to create. We plan on improving the placement of the name and making sure it appears at the same time as the beat as this way it will also bring the audience's attention to the song. Finally, there are two shots that are featured in the middle of the music video that show the smashing of glass and the sweet love hearts. We had some feedback saying to reorder the sequence of these shots which we will try and see if it works. However, we decided to put these clips in this particular order as it made sense with the lyrics and the story behind the visuals. If when changing the order it didn't look right I will change it back and explain why it didn't work.
