Indie/Alternative:

This music video has a strong narrative which runs throughout the whole video with the song playing over the top. I really like how inspiring and visual this video is because the narrative allows the audience to understand the message behind the lyrics of the song. In addition I like how this video influences your emotions, different to a music video which only focuses on aesthetics. As well as this I like how the majority of the audience can probably relate to the narrative making it appear more down to earth and humble. The filming of the boy become quicker and slower when the song changes in speed which is very effective. I like this idea for my music video because it makes the narrative fit better within the song playing over the top.

This music video would be classed as a disjunctive video because it is very unusual and at points it contains abstract clips which don't directly relate. Also it follows the conventional lip miming which occurs in music videos.

This is a performance music video which shows the band playing the song, similar to the style of a concert. I like how the band members are positioned in this music video allowing their shadows to be shown on the wall. I like how the overall mise en scene works together because it makes the video more visually appealing even though it just focuses on the band members. In addition I like how the band is positioned on a turn table because it allows different angles to be shown even though the camera is positioned at the front of the band. Also I love how simplistic the video is because it is basically just following someone round in a normal everyday setting- this makes it more relatable. As well as this I like that the narrative intensifies when the beat increases because it makes the song fit with the narrative better.

R&B:

This is both a performance and a narrative music video. I really like the start when Beyoncé is being filmed underwater because it gives a very unique effect and matches the drama of her music. I like how the start is quite graceful in the movement and sounds, which creates an effective contrast to the trouble she causes further on through the video. In addition I really like the use of slow motion during the video because it adds impact. I like how empowering this video is because it is a contrast the normal degrading of women in R&B music videos.
