Feedback

After pitching our idea for our music video to the class, we received a lot of objective feedback in relation to the positives and negatives of our product. This feedback that we have gathered has helped us develop and change our ideas, to ensure we create the best quality music video. The comments described the positive features we have chosen and the things we need to improve, however some of the responses are not relevant due to some individuals having a lack of knowledge of the indie music genre.

Positives:

We had a positive reaction to our music video ideas with people liking our song choice because they believed that it fitted well within our chosen indie genre. In addition, many comments praised our styling ideas because they also believe that these fit well within our indie genre. This proved to us that our initial ideas are well focused and catered around the indie music genre, due to the positive feedback. This has allowed us to progress with our styling ideas and make more final decisions into what we would like our client to wear in the different locations within the music video. Another positive comment which was stated was that our ideas are well planned out, which gives us the confidence to carry on with our ideas progression. Also one audience member stated that she liked our location choices, due to the mixture of outside and inside shots, which has allowed us to progress to find suitable locations which are similar to these initial ideas.

Improvements:

We didn't receive many diverse improvement comments suggesting big improvements, which would oppose our ideas massively e.g. changing our song, it was just things to think about or avoid. For example, a few members of our audience suggested their concerns over the lighting between outside and inside shots because if there is a harsh lighting change between the two, then it could look unprofessional and restrict the video from flowing. We believe that this is a very reasonable comment, which we are going to take into consideration when filming, but also to reduce the risk of this happening we believe when editing we may add some kind of filter onto the video as a whole - to make the lighting similar throughout. Similarly, another comment was in regards to the harsh changes between dark and light lighting, which we will also consider when filming these shots. Someone made a relevant point about the change in weather when filming over a span of multiple days, due to the visuals needing to be relatively similar to make sure it flows as one video. To ensure we have similar weather in all of the video, we will ensure we film on days which suggest the same weather forecast.

The feedbacks we have received are all from our target audience between the ages of 17-18 both males and females. This means that all this feedback in relevance to age and gender is very beneficial to us because it allows us to get ideas and opinion on our music video before we construct it, to ensure that it is appealing to our target audience. However there are a few comments which are not relevant to us, meaning we should take the ideas on but not feel like we have to complete them as a priority. For example one comment about making sure the costumes correlate to the coloured backgrounds, doesn't really relate to our ideas because this comment is from a person who listens to more Hip Hop music rather than indie, which makes it less reliable advice - due to her not knowing indie as much as other audience feedback.
