Storyboard Construction

Before we started storyboarding our ideas we had our ideal plan on how we were going to film the scenes and how we wanted it to look. Because of this it made the storyboarding process much quicker and easier to do especially as me and my group all had similar ideas to how we wanted the music video to look. The difficult part was trying to figure out how long each shot was going to be and how to make the lyrics fit the visuals. We had to make sure the shots were long enough for the right line of the song but also make it short enough to make the video look interesting and not dragged out. This made it clear to me how important this stage of process is. We tried to make it obvious how the shots would fit in time with the tempo of the music, especially at the start of the song, by writing down the duration of the shot that matched the time of the beat in the song. To make it easier for us during the filming stages we wrote down the lyrics of the song in the box underneath the drawn shot too. This way when filming we would all know what shots we've done and what we haven't, it will also help during the stage editing as it will help improve the drafts to make each shot more and more effective. Also, we decided to colour code the different locations we plan on filming at as this way during the filming stages we can film all shots in the same location on the same day. By doing this it will save time and make the entire process much more simple by making sure we know what shots we have filmed and which we haven't. Overall, by doing the storyboard it has made it much easier to continue our planning of our music video to make it as effective for my indie target audience as possible.
